CFA Rules and Regulations:

These rules will remain during the year 2008. Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the tournament director. In the event of a rule violation, the Tournament Director may impose such sanctions, as he deems appropriate, including, without limitation, disqualifications, forfeiture of prizes and prohibition from participation in subsequent tournaments. Decisions of the tournament director and tournament committee are final in all matters and are not subject to appeal, and are not review able by any court of law. The CFA reserves the right to make needed changes to these rules in order to ensure the safety, welfare of the CFA anglers, and/or the public and preserve the integrity of the CFA. Any rule changes will immediately supersede all previously published copies of rules. It is your responsibility to read and understand the Rules. Every Angler will be required to sign an affidavit that he/she has read, understands and accepts all rules.

1. Mandatory Captains Meeting: Here you will receive a captain’s bag and your blast off number for the tournament day. If any teams Captain fails to sign in at the Captains meeting prior to the Tournament day, your team will be disqualified with no exceptions. (This is the most important part of this tournament) Please remember that WE would like for EVERY ANGLER to make the Captains Meeting.*IMPORTANT* Either the Captain of the team or a member of that team must be present at the Captains meeting in order to fish a CFA InShore Slam EVENT! We will not allow someone from another team to stand in for you. A card with your blast off number and a set of the rules on the back will be given out last thing after the raffle, The Captain or a member of that team must be present to collect this blast off number or your team is disqualified “ No Questions Ask”

2. SPORTSMANSHIP: Competitors in the Christian Fishing Association tournaments are expected to follow Christ Like standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. Any infraction of these fundamental sporting principles may be deemed cause for disqualification. Maximum courtesy must be practiced at all times, especially with regard to boating and angling in the vicinity of non-competitors who may be on tournament waters. Any act of a competitor, which reflects unfavorably upon the CFA's effort to promote fisheries conservation, clean waters, and courtesy, shall be reason for disqualification. “Any Citation by law enforcement will result in disqualification”

3. PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Christian Fishing Association tournaments are open to members and non-members in good standing with the Christian Fishing Association, Inc and who are 16 years of age or older. Any person entering a tournament under the age of 16 must show notarized written consent from a parent or guardian. Tournaments are Team, (team defined as two to six anglers per boat), participation events. The CFA reserves the right to refuse membership and participation in any or all events to any individual or team at the discretion of the President of Christian Fishing Association Inc.

4. SAFETY: Safe boating will be observed at all times. Each contestant is required to wear a fastened, U.S. Coast Guard approved, personal floatation device anytime the combustion engine is on. Tournament days may be shortened or canceled due to unsafe weather or water conditions. The decision to shorten or to cancel will be left totally to the discretion of the tournament director. A 4-hour period shall constitute a day of fishing.

5. ALCOHOL AND DRUGS: The consuming or transporting of any alcoholic beverages, Tobacco products or drugs (other than prescription or OTC drugs) during tournament hours on tournament angler's boat is prohibited and angler will be disqualified from this and possibly all future tournaments. Tournament hours are to include Captains Meeting, weigh-in and all event activities.

6. BOAT AND MOTOR: Each boat must have all required U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment. In addition, it must have a functional bilge pump or a self-bailing tool. For the safety of all contestants, ALL BOATS MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH SOME TYPE OF OPERABLE IGNITION STOP SWITCH. This ignition STOP device must be attached to the driver's body anytime the combustion engine is operating. Anytime the combustion engine is operating and in gear, there must be a driver in the driver's seat in full control of the boat. A small electric trolling motor may be used for slow maneuvering. Any additional fuel used during the tournament day must be purchased from a retail facility open to the public. At NO time may an angler leave the boat for any other reason than Fuel or Restrooms.

7. PERMITTED FISHING METHODS: All fish must be caught alive in a conventional sporting manner. Live bait, dead bait and artificial lures may be used during competition. Commercially sold pork trailers or scents may be added and used.

8. PERMITTED FISHING LOCATIONS: Contestants may fish anywhere on tournament waters accessible to the public by boat, except areas designated as "off limits" or "no fishing" by private ownership or local, state and federal officials.

9. OFFICIAL CHECKPOINTS: There will be only one official checkpoint for boat checkout in the morning and one official check-in point in the afternoon. Failure to go through boat check and checkout in the morning will result in disqualification. ALL Boats must be checked in and launched no later than 1 Hour after official blast off time. All fishing must cease upon check-in. Teams that experience equipment failures may have them repaired and check out late for an event. However, it is the team's responsibility to find and notify the tournament director or tournament official in order to check out. All running lights must be in place and working at time of launch or you will launch last.

10. TEAMS: All tournaments are team events. Anglers may not fish as individuals. A team consists of two (2) to six (6) anglers, one of which must be designated as the captain. Teams may be any combination of age and gender. (If a partner is needed we will pair you up with an Angler.) JR Anglers are considered anyone 15 years of age and under. “All fish that are caught by a Jr. Anglers must be reeled completely in by him or her self.”

11. SCORING: Tournament standings, auxiliary awards and final winners shall be determined by the total weight measured in pounds and 100ths of a pound of each teams catch during the tournament. Only RedFish, Trout and Flounder will be weighed and the limit shall be determined by the State Law. The prevailing rules as set forth by the Christian Fishing Association along with federal, state and local statutes and regulations bind all competitors. Tournament official length for Redfish in South Carolina shall be a minimum of 15 inches “Natural Tail Spread” and a maximum of 23 inches “Pinched Tail” Trout shall be no less than 15” “Pinched Tail”and Flounder shall be no less than 15” “Pinched Tail”. All fish will be measured on the official Christian Fishing Association board with mouth closed and a pinched tail with the longest point of the tail meaning Maximum. A fish shall be turned over a minimum of one time to get the fish to measure. While measuring fish, any tail, which crosses over the maximum measurement, will be disqualified. Any fish that appears to have been penned, mangled, mashed, mauled or otherwise altered will not be weighed at the discretion of the weigh master. Any alteration of length or weight of the fish is prohibited and team will be banished from any future tournaments. Anglers are allowed to weight only ONE fish per species “1 Redfish , 1 Trout and 1 Flounder” “We encourage GOOD conservation.

12. BOAT AND TEAM IDENTIFICATION: Boat must place official CFA Tournament Sticker somewhere in plain view inside the boat.

13. TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT: Only casting, spin casting, spinning rod and reel or fly rod may be used. Be prepared to show your current fishing license, at registration, from the state in which the tournament is being held.

14. COMMUNICATIONS: A VHF radio or Cell Phone is recommended for all tournament vessels. The VHF may be mounted or portable. The use of mobile communication devices such as cellular telephones, marine radios, walkie talkies, CBs, pagers or any electronic devise to communicate fishing information during tournament hours is strictly prohibited

15. INSURANCE: Liability insurance is required of all contestants utilizing their boats in any Christian Fishing Association Inc. tournament.

16. TIES: The Largest Fish of the Event shall break the tie. The team with the heaviest single fish shall receive precedence. In the event a tie should occur for any special honors or awards, Ties shall be broken by the official time posted for check-in. The team with the earliest check-in time shall receive precedence.

17. LATE PENALTY: Contestants who are not checked-in at the appointed time will be penalized at one (1) pound per minute deducted from the total weight including any weight to be counted toward a big fish award.

18. PRE REGISTRATION: Tournament Pre Registration must be called in by phone 3 days prior to the event if you fail to do this you can still fish, but there will be a $20.00 late fee. (The Event is totally FREE if you call and register for this event by phone on Time.) 843-247-0241.

19. FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS: All contestants are expected to obey all applicable federal, state and local regulations and laws. Violation of such rules may result in your disqualification from the tournament. Repeated or flagrant violations will result in said contestants being banned from future participation in Christian Fishing Association tournaments.

21. TEAM OF THE YEAR: In order to qualify for Team Of The Year, you must place First place in one of the four categories in any CFA tournament. Team of the year winners will be determined by the team with heaviest bag limit. “1 Redfish , 1 Trout , 1 Flounder.” In the final CFA Inshore Slam held October 25, 2008.
